Josep Marin Escrigas was born in Barcelona in 1966.

At a very early age he got interested in drawing and painting. In 1979, after winning a Quick Drawing Price, he started to work with wax and carbon. By that time he met the writer Josep Masats who later on becomes his friend and master.

In 1986 he started to learn different techniques of restoration and he meets several persons related to the art world that inspires him and introduces him to sculpturing and he begins to work on several pieces.

Between 1992 and 1999 he travels all over Spain, but mainly in Andalusia where he got profoundly impressed by the Islamic Art, specially by its colours and complexity.

He also travelled a lot around Europe, North of Africa and Asia to absorb the colours; aromas, forms and humanity of these far reaching cultures that later will deeply influence his work achieving a deep combination of colours and diversity that will remain a distinctive in his works.

By that time he got introduced to Josep Abello, another artist who has influenced him notably. He starts to visit his study frequently impressed by his work and art collection, and from then on Abello becomes his master and friend. For some time Abello has an evident influence on his work, an influence that later on matures into a much more personal style less attached to the explosive Impressionism. He then begins a frantic painting activity mixing abstraction with realism, always avoiding cloned series without content.

He learns to master different techniques and styles, working with acrylic, pastel, oil, lacquer, gouaches, aerographs, etc.

He travels to Prague and exhibits in a gallery very close to the house where Kafka used to live. Back in Catalonia he exhibits in a castle in Gerona .

In year 2000 he is invited to show off his paintings in "La Casa Vayreda" in Sant Pau, and in the Church Museum of Castellfollit de la Roca, both in Gerona . Supported by Abello he is admitted in the Royal Artist Circle of Barcelona .

In 2002 he is asked to expose in solitaire in Caldes ( Barcelona ), in the Church Centre of Sant Fost de Campcentelles ( Barcelona and again in "La Casa Vayreda", Gerona

In 2001 he is again invited to expose his works individually, this time in Navarra and in Calella, Barcelona and he also shares showrooms in "Sala Barna" in Barcelona and in the international exhibition of art; MAC21 in Marbella and in the 54 th Frankfurter Buchmesse in Germany.

For the 70 th anniversary of Mussapp Insurance Company he is required to make 320 lithography's from an original piece.

In 2003 he starts to investigate new materials and techniques to apply on his creations, which are getting more expressive and contemporaneous as the artist works out new materials, new types of textures, new pigments and colours while he widen his knowledge about the world of art and creativity.

The atelier where he works gets to small so he finds a bigger one with more light even if he is a nocturnal painter who expresses in cloth or any other substrate the real or not so real world. He learns how to use colours and how to adjust them to any requirement of lights and shadows and how to apply them in any condition he desires.

This same year his work is shown in The School of Technical Arquitects of Barcelona, in the School of Architects in Granollers, Barcelona and in Sala Vayreda of Sant Pau, Gerona . Again he shares showrooms in Sala Barna in Barcelona , in the Royal Artist Circle of Barcelona and in The Abello Museum in Mollet del Vallès, Barcelona . And in the Art Fair MAC'21 in Marbella .

In 2004 he creates his own virtual gallery in order to show his work all over the world. His work is also included in the Batik Art group.
